Iowa Arts Showcase: Interview with NISOM's Tracey Rush

The Northeast Iowa School of Music in Dubuque’s founder and executive director, Tracey Rush, is announcing her retirement after 17 years of service. She still plans to work with the school as an Artistic Advisor, and is looking forward to hiring their first full-time Executive Director. Rush has also been the Dubuque Community String Orchestra’s conductor since she founded the ensemble in 1998 to give adult amateur musicians an outlet for ensemble performance. “I have loved working with these wonderful musicians these many years, but it is time for a new face on the podium, someone with fresh ideas,” says Rush.

On Sunday, April 29 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dubuque, Rush will make her final downbeat at the podium conducting the DCSO as they perform some of her favorite works. The concert will also feature the New Horizons Band, conducted by Glenn Pohland.
