As part of their 20th Anniversary Season, The Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre will visit Iowa Public Radio once again! Tune in for performances and interviews at noon on Tuesday, June 12th featuring enchanting arias from the CROT’s production of Lerner and Loewe’s Brigadoon. The CROT’s cast features Matt Chastain, Stephanie Johnson, Ian Butler, Ashley Armstrong, Sarak Mikulski, Wesley Frye, Alicia Jayourba, Thaddeus Ennen, Liang Zhao, and Christina Bernardoni. The ensemble will treat us to a few musical gems from their upcoming performances of Brigadoon.
Brigadoon is the timeless classic that contains romance and adventure all in one. The story features an American man, Tommy, who stumbles upon a Scottish village that mysteriously only appears one day every 100 years. When he meets and falls in love with Fiona, he has a tough choice: return to his old life or stay in Brigadoon with Fiona forever.
IPR’s Jacqueline Halbloom will host the CROT cast and Daniel Kleinknecht, founder and artistic director of the Cedar Rapids Opera Theater. Daniel will discuss Brigadoon, the cast, the music, and their live upcoming performances. Don’t miss CROT’s appearance in Studio One at Iowa Public Radio on Tuesday, June 12th at noon!
You can also go to Cedar Rapids and enjoy the talent and hard work of these young artists who are launching their careers. The full show will be performed at the outdoor stage at Brucemore in Cedar Rapids on June 14-17 at 7:30 p.m. To purchase tickets, visit www.brucemore.com or call 319-362-7375.
